Furniture Straps from Amazon.com

I came across this heartbreaking blog post from a fellow twin mama about a year ago, and her story is absolutely worth the few minutes it takes to read.  In a nutshell, her sweet three-year-old girl was tragically crushed beneath a small dresser one morning in their home.  The blogging mama feels she owes it to her daughter to share her story to prevent this tragedy from occurring in other homes:

Love, Light, Laughter and Chocolate – One Mom’s Journey: Be with me. Just for today.

I believe we all owe it to the memory of this precious little girl to take every measure possible to keep this from happening to our children.  I found furniture anchoring straps at Babies-R-Us, and here is a link to some you can purchase on Amazon today.

Don’t let another week go by without protecting your babies, toddlers and older kids from a completely preventable tragedy.

  2. Thank you for sharing your grief, know that it put a little urgency in child proofing my house. We have secured the shelves in the play room but other areas of the house have been put on the “to do list”. I am sorry it had to be through your loss that others learn this lesson, thank you again for sharing!

Thanks for sharing this! We are going to start baby proofing soon. The story you shared really impacted me.

  4. Wow. I read this last night before bed and now I’m haunted. Will definitely get some straps, too.

  5. This had me crying. I cannot even begin to comprehend what this family has gone through. However, it is wonderful that they are able to use this tragedy in order to prevent another family from having to go through this experience. This is just so heartbreaking, but thank you for sharing it. Parents need to know this.
